Pia Wurtzbach: Will she do a Janine Tugonon this year?

Image
While Kagandahang Flores may have Parul Shah and Hannah Ruth Sison as this year's flag bearers, it is no secret that A&Q is also in thick of preparations for 2014, with the hopes of keeping the Miss Universe Philippines crown in their camp and most probably it will be Pia Wurtzbach leading the way for A&Q's entrants.
It is no secret how Pia wants to enter the succeeding Bb. Pilipinas editions, while being the 1st Runner Up to ladies like Ara Arida, Bea Rose Santiago, Cindy Miranda and Mutya Datul can be considered an achievement, there is no doubt that this girl wants more than just being around during send-offs and participating in trainings, with SMA's green light, Pia will seem to have the upper hand with this year's contenders and as she says, it's going to be 51 Beautiful Years.

Deadline for applications for Bb. Pilipinas 2014 is set on Monday, December 30, 2013 while the Coronation Night will be on March 30, 2014.

Things will surely heat up for Bb. Pilipinas 2014 with all the things that happened this year. Will Pia Wurtzbach file for another try? Will Parul Shah and Hannah Ruth Sison give Binibini another go? Will their be fresh faces to win the crown? Filing of application is set until December 30, get ready for the 51st year of Binibining Pilipinas.

Chino Roque: First Pinoy to go to space

Chino Roque will be the first Filipino astronaut to fly into space.

The 22-year-old psychology graduate from De La Salle University in Manila bested 28,000 auditionees from all over the Philippines and will join 21 others from 60 countries for a travel to space via XCOR Aerospace Lynx Aircraft in 2014.

Roque, also a crossfit coach, was actually a replacement for Air Force pilot Lt. Mario Mendoza Jr., who withdrew from the competition, citing conflicts in schedule. After a series of interviews, he found himself back in the game with two other Pinoy candidates Evan Ray Datuin and Ramil Santos.

Roque, Datuin, and Santos underwent intensive astronaut training at the AXE Apollo Space Academy (AASA) Space Camp in Orlando, Florida. The training included physical tests like zero gravity (parabolic flights to experience total weightlessness), air combat (aerobatic maneuvers on the cockpit of a fighter jet), and G-force (interactive blast off experience).

In an interview, Roque said he feels sad for his friends Evan and Ramil but respects them for their efforts.

Asked about his edge among other finalists, he said it lies in his "never-give-up type of attitude."

Fast and Furious 7 postponed due to Paul Walker's death

Following the death of one of its stars, Paul Walker, the "Fast & Furious 7" team decided to halt the production for at least a few days, contrary to some rumors the sequel will be cancelled.

The 40-year-old Walker, who plays Brian O'Connor in the film series, died in a car accident over the weekend.

It is believed majority of Walker's scenes has been shot for the film, which is scheduled for a July 2014 release.

Director James Wan on Twitter said he was "beyond heartbroken" and was unable to "process anything" following the star's death.

The news of the sequel's postponement was revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, and indicated that the screenplay may need to be partially rewritten following the unexpected turn of events.

Aside from "Fast & Furious 7," Walker also appears in upcoming films "Hours" to be released in December and "Brick Mansions," a remake of the French film "Banlieue 13" to be released some time next year. Both films are in post-production at the time of his death.

Walker was on hand to host a charity event for the typhoon victims in the Philippines in Santa Clarita in California shortly before dying in a single car crash and explosion on Saturday, November 30. The car was driven by his friend and former racing driver Roger Rodas, who was also killed instantly.
