Elaine Kay Moll: What's Next?

 

While Annalie Forbes is among those rumored to repeat for Bb. Pilipinas 2013, it isn't the same thing around for Bb. Pilipinas 2012 1st Runner Up turned Miss Supranational Philippines 2012 Elaine Kay Moll. You see, Elaine had the biggest chance of a lifetime that rarely happened in a Bb. Pilipinas Runner Up. She was appointed by BPCI to join Miss Supranational 2012, had the "queenly" send-off, was awarded as 3rd Runner-Up during the Miss Supranational 2012 contest (Ekaterina Buraya of Belarus won Miss Supranational 2012 contest) and was given a victory party/birthday bash when she came back. The experience definitely was more than what the 1st Runner Up expected, given  that it doesn't happen all the time (the last time you saw a runner-up or runners-up competing was when Michelle Reyes and Maricar Balagtas (1st and 2nd Runners-up respectively) were appointed by BPCI to different international competitions in 2001).

Now we are asking, what is next for this 20-ish something beauty queen? Will she skip 1 year at least before re-joining Bb. Pilipinas and pass the crown she's wearing now to the next BBP-Supranational (if that title should be awarded in the contest)? Will she be groomed by her mentor, Jonas Gaffud to banner this year's Aces and Queens? Or the Supranational experience changed her contract thus forbidding her to re-join under the BPCI banner,

Pageants Revisited: Bb. Pilipinas, Miss World Philippines and Miss Philippines Earth Winners 2012

Just like last year in this blog post, we give a rundown of the 2012 Winners and their respective placements in the their respective pageants. This year we also highlight achievements on the "male" pageants, proving that Filipinos, without any gender reference whatsoever are proven to excel with their beauty and brains in the International pageant scene.

Following success year in year out in the most successful Philippine pageant seemed to be a daunting task, but somehow, BPCI has been there for a long time, sending out representatives to various international pageants. This year, BPCI is responsible for sending pageant representatives to Miss Universe, Miss International, Miss Tourism Queen International and for the first time, Miss Supranational.

Schmitz competed in the 2012 Miss International pageant, Tugonon to compete on December 19 on the Miss Universe 2012 in Las Vegas while Dimaranan is the 2nd Miss Tourism Queen International representative of BPCI in China. Elaine Kay Moll, Bb. Pilipinas 2012 1st Runner Up was appointed as Miss Supranational Philippines.
 

JANINE MARI RAYMUNDO TUGONON

When she auditioned for Bb. Pilipinas 2012 along with Bb. Pilipinas 2011 2nd Runner Up Mary Jean Lastimosa, there was a mix of different reactions: WHY JOIN AGAIN AFTER A YEAR OF BEING A RUNNER-UP? I posted that question to myself again, I guess it was because of what Dianne Necio did during Bb. Pilipinas 2011 where she eventually went on to win the Bb. Pilipinas International crown.  Janine was 1st Runner Up to Shamcey Supsup in last year's edition of Binibining Pilipinas and with her training and improvements from her year as a runner-up and trainings with Aces and Queens' Jonas Gaffud, I guess it worked to her advantage.

Janine now aims to replicate the success of her predecessors, Venus Raj who was Miss Universe 2010 4th Runner Up and Shamcey Supsup who was Miss Universe 2011 3rd Runner Up. 

NICOLE SCHMITZ
Bb. Pilipinas International 2012 
Competition Date: October 21 in Japan
Placement: Miss International 2012 Top 15

When she joined Bb. Pilipinas 2007, she was already a semifinalist at her age 18 and with vast improvements during a 5 year span, including trainings from the camp of Rodgil Flores (who mentored the likes of Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman, Miss International 2008 SF Patricia Fernandez and Miss International 2011 SF Dianne Necio among others), she was one of the favorites to win the Bb. Pilipinas 2012 pageant. 

During the Miss International 2012 pageant in Okinawa, Japan, she managed to impress the crowd with her beauty and brains. She was a part of the Miss International Top 15, maintaining the record of the Philippines by placing on the Top 15 since 2008. The pageant was won by Ikumi Yoshimatsu, who succeeded Ecuador's Maria Fernanda Cornejo as Miss International 2012.

KATRINA JAYNE DIMARANAN
Bb. Pilipinas Tourism 
Competition Date: December 29 in China

The last binibini who would be going out of the country to represent the Philippines in a pageant is Katrina Jayne Dimaranan. At 18, she has definitely dazzled pageant fans with her beauty and talent in the Bb. Pilipinas 2012 competition where she was crowned as Bb. Pilipinas Tourism. 

She is the country's representative to Miss Tourism Queen International, the second being sent by BPCI after Isabella Manjon for the right to succeed Kantapat Peeradachainarin as MTQI 2012 

ELAINE KAY MOLL 
Bb. Pilipinas 1st Runner Up/ Miss Supranational Philippines
Competition: September 15 in Poland
Placement: 3rd Runner Up in the Miss Supranational 2012 pageant.

Being a runner-up of Binibining Pilipinas does not assure you a competition which is why when Madam Stella Araneta of BPCI appointed Bb. Pilipinas 1st Runner Up Elaine Kay Moll as the Philippine representative to Miss Supranational 2012 in Poland, the 21 year old basketball player turned beauty queen was nervous of joining and competing with a Philippine sash, nevertheless, she managed to pull it off and flew to Poland.

She never had a mileage of campaigning through the Miss Internet award as the Miss Supranational contest ask voters to pay for their votes. I guess it was her height, beauty and the things she did in Poland which made her stand out and be awarded as 3rd Runner Up. I do not know the stipulations of her contract but if given a chance, I want to see her on the BBP 2014 edition. (I expect that she would be passing her crown next year).

The second edition of Miss World Philippines under Ms. Cory Quirino shown a lot of changes: network partners and prizes just to name a few to improve MWP 2012 after the success of Miss World Philippines 2011 Gwendoline Ruais who eventually was crowned Miss World 2011 1st Princess.

QUEENIE REHMAN

Placement: Miss World Top 15 Semifinalist

Winning MWP 2012 seemed to be a hands-down for Queenie Rehman but it was not easy going to the Miss World 2012 competition where her predecessor, Miss World Philippines 2011 Gwendoline Ruais was 1st Princess. She managed to put up a good fight with the following achievements:

She was Miss World Top 15 Semifinalist, Top 10 in the World Fashion Designer Dress Award, Top 47 in Top Model, Top 5 in Talent and Top 40 in Beach Fashion. It was a decent finish following Gwendoline's success.

4. April Love Jordan was Mutya ng Pilipinas 2006 2nd runner up, Miss Philippines Earth 2006 semifinalist and Bb. Pilipinas 2009 Top 10 semifinalist.
5. Brenna Cassandra Gamboa was Miss Philippines Earth 2011 finalist.

The 12th Edition of Miss Philippines Earth was held at Centerstage in Mall of Asia, Pasay City it was aligned with the 2012 declaration of the United Nations General Assembly as the "International Year of Sustainable Energy for All".

Placement: Miss Earth-Air 2012 (1st Runner Up)

Proving to make most of the second chance, Stephany Stefanowitz was a head-turner in Miss Philippines-Earth 2012 and is actually my bet to win the whole MPE 2012. However, with the pageant finals of Miss Earth 2012 held in the Philippines, some Filipinos were saying: "sash factor" worked again when she was crowned as Miss Earth Air, behind Czech Republic's Tereza Fajksova. She managed to make a good run in Miss Earth's Fast-Track Events and I think her efforts were able to push her through the finals.

1. Stephany Stefanowitz represented Butuan City when she first joined Miss Philippines Earth in 2010 where she was a Runner-up.
2. Glennifer Perido and Samantha Purvor were candidates of Binibining Pilipinas 2011, Purvor was Miss Friendship while Perido was unplaced. The pageant was won by Shamcey Supsup (Miss Universe Philippines), Isabella Manjon (Bb. Pilipinas Tourism) and Dianne Necio (Bb. Pilipinas International)
3. Samantha Purvor also joined the Maiden Edition of Miss World Philippines 2011 where she was part of the Top 12. Gwendoline Ruais won the competition.

Pilipinas 1st Runner Up (won by Shamcey Supsup) and after a year, she won Miss Universe Philippines, while she has a fair share of haters and doubters, she would try her best to equal or exceed the expectations of her predecessors (Raj, 2010 and Supsup, 2011 both placed on the Top 5 of the Miss Universe pageant)
