Bb. Pilipinas 2013 Winners

The 50th edition of Bb. Pilipinas will happen Sunday, April 14, 2013, when Janine Tugonon (Miss Universe 1st Runner Up), Nicole Schmitz (Bb. Pilipinas International), Katrina Jayne Dimaranan (Bb. Pilipinas Tourism) and Elaine Kay Moll (Miss Supranational 3rd RU 2012) would crown their successors at the end of the event.o

This year's edition will also honor the 50 beautiful years of Bb. Pilipinas which attributed to 5 titles (2 in Miss Universe and 3 in Miss International), several runners-up finishes on the Miss Universe, World and International pageants, semifinalist appearances in Big 4 pageants and placements of BPCI appointed delegates in other pageants.

The event is to be broadcasted from Smart Araneta Coliseum at 8 PM  with delayed telecast at 9:30 PM with Martin Nievera, Dawn Zulueta, Miss Universe Philippines 2010 Venus Raj and Miss Universe Philippines 2011 Shamcey Supsup.

Meet the new Candidate Number 35 for Bb. Pilipinas 2013

It is still a fight between 50 girls after all.

Meet Henna Kaizelle Nicole "KC" Cajandig, a 20 year old GenSan beauty who was chosen to replace Theresa Fenger after the latter resigned in connection with the racy photos she had with FHM with her singing group, Eurasia where she was known to be as "Lana Roi."

While many doubt her chances as she is too late from the 49 other girls who are vying for a Bb. Pilipinas crown, her credentials is something to be proud of. She represented the Philippines in the 2009 edition of World Supermodel in Taiwan. She also took part in the Ford Models' Supermodel of the World (Philippine Edition in 2008), where she was placed among the Top 3 finalists.

Michelle Speaks: How would you like Katrina Dimaranan to be Miss Supranational Philippines 2013?

 

I am a big fan of Pageant Facebook pages, of course, they get their sources elsewhere, sometimes they are even faster than Missosology (my handle is missMA and I don't post too often, the last time I posted was about the Bb. Pilipinas 2013 Prediction Game), one of those pages I follow has reported a rumor that Bb. Pilipinas Tourism 2012 Katrina Dimaranan will be the next Miss Supranational Philippines for 2013.

 

Upon hearing the news, I commented immediately on the photo, She has what it takes.

 

With their contracts expiring in October, I do not see any reason why not give a chance to Katrina, who has worked with Janine Tugonon (Miss Universe 1st Runner Up), Nicole Schmitz (Miss International Semifinalist), Elaine Kay Moll (reigning Miss Supranational Philippines) and Ali Forbes (Bb. Pilipinas 2nd Runner Up) in all Binibini events which much confidence and poise after winning the Tourism crown last April 15. It was unfortunate though that Kat's Miss Tourism Queen International stint did not pursue last year and there is no definite assurance of the rescheduled MTQI 2012 to be held sometime April.
The thought may be seem to be a consolation after Elaine who was the 1st Runner Up of the 2012 contest being sent instead of her but I think she wouldn't mind if ever it happens, after all, Supra is not in the official crown list of BBP and Elaine was also handpicked by Madam Stella Marquez Araneta.
Enough being said, this is a wait and see for me. I don't really have the idea where will the 'Supra' girl come from this year since it is not really included in the official crowns.

Lourenz Remetillo & Bea Santiago: Will their experience give them a headstart to snatch a Bb. Pilipinas crown?

50 beautiful ladies are vying to represent the country at either Miss Universe, Miss International, Miss Tourism Queen International (provided that it is still there) and Miss Supranational 2013. Each of those who made it in the official list of candidates had their own strengths that they have managed to capitalize on before the Finals Night, but not all of them has been given the chance to wear the Philippine sash before entering Binibining Pilipinas like Candidate #20 - Bea Rose Santiago and Candidate # 21 - Lourenz Grace Remetillo.

 

CANDIDATE#20 - Bea Rose Santiago

Bea Rose Santiago is no stranger to beauty contests. She has been crowned as Mutya ng Pilipinas Overseas Communities in 2011 (competition won by Vickie Rushton) and has represented the country just last year during the Miss Tourism Queen of the Year 2012 where she was a part of the Top 10 (competition won by Asta Jakumaite). Online polls consider her as one of the top bets for this competition and who will not vouch for that? ;)

 

CANDIDATE # 21 - Lourenz Grace Remetillo 

Lourenz Grace Remetillo will definitely ring a bell to those who have been following Philippine pageants over the past 2 years, the lady from Iligan was the first who represented the country to Miss Supranational in 2011 (followed by Bb. Pilipinas 2012 1st Runner Up Elaine Kay Moll) when the franchise was not yet with Madam Stella Marquez Araneta. With 2013 seeming to be Chix's last year to join beauty contests (as she has turned 25), She hopes that she can win the competition and represent the country in a bigger stage.

Save your money for this date: April 14, 2013 which is the Finals Night of Bb. Pilipinas 2013. Nothing beats watching live at the Smart Araneta Coliseum (just like Filipinos loving basketball) and with 50 girls named vying for three crowns (Miss Universe Philippines, Bb. Pilipinas International and Bb. Pilipinas Tourism), it gets more exciting to see them right before your very eyes.

Rumored BBP 2013 Returnees: The Runners-up

If you talk about the extension of Bb. Pilipinas 2013 application in other pageant blogs, many have been considered to be dismayed with the idea, I mean, this is the 2nd extension after the first extension which was set last January 22. More pageant enthusiasts have expressed their thinking that maybe Madam Stella Marquez Araneta and the BPCI organizers are giving a chance for those who have been undecided to join Binibini and maybe for those with lesser titles - 1st and 2nd Runners Up of the previous edition prior to this year.

There goes the name of Elaine Kay Moll (Bb. Pilipinas 1st Runner Up) and Annalie Forbes (Bb. Pilipinas 2nd Runner Up). Elaine had a rosy reign as BBP - 1st RU as she was appointed as Miss Supranational Philippines 2012, competed in Miss Supranational 2012 and bagged 4th place as 3rd Runner Up in the competition. However, since Supranational is not an official title, Elaine is still technically the 1st Runner Up. Ali meanwhile, the BBP-2nd Runner Up has joined Janine, Nicole, Katrina and Elaine in their trainings and I think they have benefited well from it if in case they would be joining, however, I don't think they should be joining now: They should not give up their contracts for a shot at something they are not sure off. 

If ever the two (or one since Elaine has expressed she would not be joining) will join this year, I am sure there are a lot of bashing like what happened to Dianne Necio (who resigned from her title as BBP 2010 1st Runner Up to compete in 2011 where she was BBP-International) and Janine Tugonon (who went on to compete last year and became BBP-Universe after she was 1st Runner Up to Shamcey Supsup in 2011). I hope they are not the people BPCI is waiting for... skip 1 - 2 years before joining and have a full career outside Binibining Pilipinas.

One more time for Jaysel Arrozal

One of the girls that have filed their applications for Bb. Pilipinas 2013 is a face very familiar to Bb. Pilipinas. A returnee by the name of Jaysel Arrozal. Jaysel has joined 2 previous competitions of Bb. Pilipinas in 2008 (where she placed on the Top 10) which was won by Jennifer Barrientos and in 2009, she was unplaced. In 2011, she joined the maiden edition of Miss World Philippines and was hailed as Miss World Philippines - 4th Princess (behind eventual winner Gwendoline Ruais who went on to be Miss World 2011 1st Princess).

With all her obligations (and contracts) with Cory Quirino's CQGQ done, she was one of the few ladies who passed their applications to beat the second deadline set by BPCI. Will Jaysel Arrozal make it to the official list of candidates and bring a crown home?

Annalie Forbes: Will you want her back for BBP 2013?

 

Repeaters, yes, people have a different outlook on repeaters, others support them, others despise them... but for the past 2 years, we've seen successes on Dianne Necio (BBP 2010 1st Runner Up turned BBP-International) and Janine Tugonon (BBP 2011 1st Runner Up turned BBP-Universe (Miss Universe 2012 1st Runner Up). Will it be the inspiration of BBP 2012 2nd Runner Up Annalie "Ali" Forbes to return and give Binibini one more try?

 

 

That we would find out as the last day of filing for applications would be on Tuesday, January 22.
