Riza Santos gets crown, sash and is crowned as Miss Universe Canada

 

Last June 2 (Sunday), Riza Santos, the rightful winner of Miss Universe Canada received her crown and sash as she begins her journey to Miss Universe 2013 which will be held in a date and a venue to be announced by the Miss Universe Organization.

Santos, originally crowned as first-runner up during the contest emerged as the winner after Beauties of Canada admitted a typo error that affected the scores of the Top 5 girls. Denise Garrido, who was originally crowned as Miss Universe Canada turned out to be the 3rd Runner-Up.

Riza Santos is Miss Universe Canada 2013 - upon correction!

It was a dethronement and enthronement for Miss Universe Canada 2013.

A human error or a typo was discovered in the Top 5 of the competition. The typo was first in the 11 years that the Beauties of Canada had produced Miss Universe Canada. BOC had made the correct results:

Miss Universe Canada 2013 ­ Riza Santos (Calgary, AB)
1st runner-up ­ Siera Bearchell (Moose Jaw, SK)
2nd runner-up ­ Diana Martin (Mississauga, ON)
3rd runner-up ­ Denise Garrido (Bradford, ON)
4th runner-up ­ Michelle McKay (Sarnia, ON)

The proclaimed winner, Denise Garrido was just the 3rd Runner Up of the contest, while the true winner of Miss Universe Canada 2013 is Riza Santos, who represented Canada to the Miss Earth 2006 pageant and the Miss World 2011 pageant.

There would be 2 Filipinas as of this writing in Miss Universe, Riza and our very own Ariella Arida.
