AP: Lebron to win 4th NBA MVP Award

A 4th NBA MVP award is not a question to Miami Heat's Lebron James.

He lead Miami Heat to league's best 66-16 with a 27 game winning streak. James averaged 26.8 points, 8 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 1.7 steals and shot a career-high 56.5 percent from the field and 40.6 percent from three-point land this season.

His stiff competition includes Oklahoma City Thunder's Kevin Durant, Clippers' Chris Paul and New York Knicks' Carmelo Anthony.

Winning his 4th NBA MVP Award will allow Lebron to join NBA greats by being just one of the five NBA players winning the MVP Award 4 times: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (six), Bill Russell (five), Michael Jordan (five) and Wilt Chamberlain (four).

Lebron James of the Miami Heat is Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year for 2012
Sports Illustrated announced Monday that Lebron James of the Miami Heat is their magazine's Sportsman of the Year 2012.

James, 27, has been outstanding this year, winning his first NBA championship, his third MVP award named MVP of the NBA finals and a won gold medal with the United States at the London Olympics.

He was just the 6th basketballer who won the award, which started in 1954. The most recent winner is to whom Lebron was familiar, Dwayne Wade, his team mate in 2006.

James went far from how critics reacted when he moved to Miami after his contract expired with Cleveland and his performance during the 2011 Finals won by Dallas Mavericks.

Notable winners of this award are: swimmer Michael Phelps (2008), cyclist Lance Armstrong (2002) and golfer Tiger Woods (2000). The first award was held by Roger Bannister in 1954.
