Miss Global Philippines launched

Another beauty pageant got its well deserved launch last June 18 at the Seaport Convention Room of Manila Ocean Park's Hotel H20. Miss Global Philippines is the search for the Outstanding Filipina who embodies the ideals of a tourism ambassadress. Headed by businessman Pauline Lamping and COO Stephany Stefanowitz (Miss Earth Air 2012), they are geared to promoting Philippine tourism.

It is also a competition that is meant to break the stereotypes that single moms can no longer join the contest. In Miss Global Philippines, there is an equal opportunity for single and single moms, as long as they meet our requirements, added by Stefanowitz, who is currently an endorser of Pslamstre.

Miss Global Philippines is open to Filipino single women and single moms who have never been married, 18 to 27 years old and stands at least 5’6”. She should also have collegiate level of education, possess exceptional beauty, wit and charm, and be willing to travel.

The inaugural pageant of Miss Global Philippines is slated on August 24, Sunday, 7:30 PM at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila, Pasay City. It will be aired nationwide on August, Sunday, 10 PM on GMA News TV.

Miss Philippines-Earth 2013 Results

The 13th edition of Miss Philippines-Earth was held last Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the Mall of Asia Arena. Stephany Stefanowitz, reigning Miss Philippines-Earth crowned Miss Olongapo City Angelee Claudett Delos Reyes as the next representative to Miss Earth 2013.

Challenge Winners for Miss Philippines-Earth 2013

While we wrap up the Bb. Pilipinas 2013 coverage with Ariella Arida (Miss Universe Philippines 2013), Bea Santiago (Bb. Pilipinas International), Joanna Cindy Miranda (Bb. Miss Philippines Earth 2013 at SM Supermalls

Here is another updated picture of the schedule of Miss Philippines - Earth screenings at SM with the following requirements needed for your application:

1. Materials for talent presentation 

2. Swimsuit, cocktail dress, a photocopy of birth certificate and high school diploma, 2 pictures - 1 closeup, 1 whole body.

3. Applicant must be 18-25 years old and at least 5'5" tall.

4. Applicant is requested to be in light makeup.

While we have been seeing in social networks that Bb. Pilipinas 2013 search is already on, Miss Philippines - Earth has officially launched their search for Miss Philippines - Earth 2013. The 13th edition of the pageant is in lieu of the celebration of the International Year of Water Cooperation.

 

Please check their website: here. The reigning queen is Stephany Stefanowitz and her court is Glennifer Perido (Miss Philippines - Air), Thoreen Halvorsen (Miss Philippines - Fire), Samantha Purvor (Miss Philippines - Water), Mary Candice Ramos (Miss Philippines - Eco Tourism).

 

For the past two years we have been successful in Miss Earth with Athena Mae Imperial crowned as Miss Earth- Water 2011 and just last November, Stephany Stefanowitz was crowned Miss Earth-Air 2012, a place behind Miss Earth 2012 Tereza Fajksova of Czech Republic.

Pageants Revisited: Bb. Pilipinas, Miss World Philippines and Miss Philippines Earth Winners 2012

Just like last year in this blog post, we give a rundown of the 2012 Winners and their respective placements in the their respective pageants. This year we also highlight achievements on the "male" pageants, proving that Filipinos, without any gender reference whatsoever are proven to excel with their beauty and brains in the International pageant scene.

Following success year in year out in the most successful Philippine pageant seemed to be a daunting task, but somehow, BPCI has been there for a long time, sending out representatives to various international pageants. This year, BPCI is responsible for sending pageant representatives to Miss Universe, Miss International, Miss Tourism Queen International and for the first time, Miss Supranational.

Schmitz competed in the 2012 Miss International pageant, Tugonon to compete on December 19 on the Miss Universe 2012 in Las Vegas while Dimaranan is the 2nd Miss Tourism Queen International representative of BPCI in China. Elaine Kay Moll, Bb. Pilipinas 2012 1st Runner Up was appointed as Miss Supranational Philippines.
 

JANINE MARI RAYMUNDO TUGONON
Miss Universe Philippines 2012 
Competition Date: December 19
Placement:

When she auditioned for Bb. Pilipinas 2012 along with Bb. Pilipinas 2011 2nd Runner Up Mary Jean Lastimosa, there was a mix of different reactions: WHY JOIN AGAIN AFTER A YEAR OF BEING A RUNNER-UP? I posted that question to myself again, I guess it was because of what Dianne Necio did during Bb. Pilipinas 2011 where she eventually went on to win the Bb. Pilipinas International crown.  Janine was 1st Runner Up to Shamcey Supsup in last year's edition of Binibining Pilipinas and with her training and improvements from her year as a runner-up and trainings with Aces and Queens' Jonas Gaffud, I guess it worked to her advantage.

Janine now aims to replicate the success of her predecessors, Venus Raj who was Miss Universe 2010 4th Runner Up and Shamcey Supsup who was Miss Universe 2011 3rd Runner Up. 

NICOLE SCHMITZ
Bb. Pilipinas International 2012 
Competition Date: October 21 in Japan
Placement: Miss International 2012 Top 15

When she joined Bb. Pilipinas 2007, she was already a semifinalist at her age 18 and with vast improvements during a 5 year span, including trainings from the camp of Rodgil Flores (who mentored the likes of Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman, Miss International 2008 SF Patricia Fernandez and Miss International 2011 SF Dianne Necio among others), she was one of the favorites to win the Bb. Pilipinas 2012 pageant. 

During the Miss International 2012 pageant in Okinawa, Japan, she managed to impress the crowd with her beauty and brains. She was a part of the Miss International Top 15, maintaining the record of the Philippines by placing on the Top 15 since 2008. The pageant was won by Ikumi Yoshimatsu, who succeeded Ecuador's Maria Fernanda Cornejo as Miss International 2012.

KATRINA JAYNE DIMARANAN
Bb. Pilipinas Tourism 
Competition Date: December 29 in China
Placement:

The last binibini who would be going out of the country to represent the Philippines in a pageant is Katrina Jayne Dimaranan. At 18, she has definitely dazzled pageant fans with her beauty and talent in the Bb. Pilipinas 2012 competition where she was crowned as Bb. Pilipinas Tourism. 

She is the country's representative to Miss Tourism Queen International, the second being sent by BPCI after Isabella Manjon for the right to succeed Kantapat Peeradachainarin as MTQI 2012 

ELAINE KAY MOLL 
Bb. Pilipinas 1st Runner Up/ Miss Supranational Philippines
Competition: September 15 in Poland
Placement: 3rd Runner Up in the Miss Supranational 2012 pageant.

Being a runner-up of Binibining Pilipinas does not assure you a competition which is why when Madam Stella Araneta of BPCI appointed Bb. Pilipinas 1st Runner Up Elaine Kay Moll as the Philippine representative to Miss Supranational 2012 in Poland, the 21 year old basketball player turned beauty queen was nervous of joining and competing with a Philippine sash, nevertheless, she managed to pull it off and flew to Poland.

She never had a mileage of campaigning through the Miss Internet award as the Miss Supranational contest ask voters to pay for their votes. I guess it was her height, beauty and the things she did in Poland which made her stand out and be awarded as 3rd Runner Up. I do not know the stipulations of her contract but if given a chance, I want to see her on the BBP 2014 edition. (I expect that she would be passing her crown next year).

The second edition of Miss World Philippines under Ms. Cory Quirino shown a lot of changes: network partners and prizes just to name a few to improve MWP 2012 after the success of Miss World Philippines 2011 Gwendoline Ruais who eventually was crowned Miss World 2011 1st Princess.

QUEENIE REHMAN
Miss World Philippines 2012

Placement: Miss World Top 15 Semifinalist

Winning MWP 2012 seemed to be a hands-down for Queenie Rehman but it was not easy going to the Miss World 2012 competition where her predecessor, Miss World Philippines 2011 Gwendoline Ruais was 1st Princess. She managed to put up a good fight with the following achievements:

She was Miss World Top 15 Semifinalist, Top 10 in the World Fashion Designer Dress Award, Top 47 in Top Model, Top 5 in Talent and Top 40 in Beach Fashion. It was a decent finish following Gwendoline's success.

1. Queenie Rehman was a Binibining Pilipinas 2011 Semifinalist, winning the Best in Swimsuit Award
2. Mary Ann Ross Misa was a Binibining Pilipinas 2010 Top 10 SF

The 12th Edition of Miss Philippines Earth was held at Centerstage in Mall of Asia, Pasay City it was aligned with the 2012 declaration of the United Nations General Assembly as the "International Year of Sustainable Energy for All".

Proving to make most of the second chance, Stephany Stefanowitz was a head-turner in Miss Philippines-Earth 2012 and is actually my bet to win the whole MPE 2012. However, with the pageant finals of Miss Earth 2012 held in the Philippines, some Filipinos were saying: "sash factor" worked again when she was crowned as Miss Earth Air, behind Czech Republic's Tereza Fajksova. She managed to make a good run in Miss Earth's Fast-Track Events and I think her efforts were able to push her through the finals.

Pageant Winners' Notes:

1. Stephany Stefanowitz represented Butuan City when she first joined Miss Philippines Earth in 2010 where she was a Runner-up.
2. Glennifer Perido and Samantha Purvor were candidates of Binibining Pilipinas 2011, Purvor was Miss Friendship while Perido was unplaced. The pageant was won by Shamcey Supsup (Miss Universe Philippines), Isabella Manjon (Bb. Pilipinas Tourism) and Dianne Necio (Bb. Pilipinas International)
3. Samantha Purvor also joined the Maiden Edition of Miss World Philippines 2011 where she was part of the Top 12. Gwendoline Ruais won the competition.

Miss Earth 2012 Results

The 12th Edition of Miss Earth 2012 was held at the Philippines in Versailles Club, Alabang where 80 delegates vie for the title Miss Earth 2012 to succeed Ecuador's Olga Alava who had a meaningful run as a spokesperson of the Earth. This year, the event  aligns itself with the United Nations General Assembly's declaration of 2012 as the "International Year of Sustainable Energy for All."

PH bets on different pageants November 24, 2012

On November 24, 2012, Philippines would be again represented in the pageant scene on three simultaneous pageants. News Bits Online gives a rundown on who to support to and to look after for results come Saturday (hopefully the odds are all in our favor as Filipinos)

MISS EARTH 2012 - Stephany Dianne Stefanowitz (Miss Philippines Earth 2012)

Stephany Dianne Stefanowitz is our country's representative to the Miss Earth pageant. She may have a lot of pressure right now standing on her hometown crowd when the final leg of competition comes on Saturday in Versailles, Alabang but I know she has definitely trained well under the mentorship of the Rodgil Flores camp (did I get it correctly).

She has placed on various challenge events of Miss Earth (somehow reminiscent of the Miss World track events) where she has showed the power of Pinay.

Mr. World 2012 - Andrew James Wolff (Mr. World Philippines 2012)

There was no competition held for Mr. World Philippines, but I guess Madam Cory Quirino has placed her cards right with Andrew Wolff. The businessman turned player from Philippine Volcanoes has banked on his athletic skills and aims not to disappoint Filipinos in Kent, England's Mr. World 2012 contest.

Last but not the least is Mark John Gutoman, who is Philippines' bet to Mr. International 2012. Mark's competition would be in Thailand who has served wonderful to us in Kevin Balot and June Macasaet's recent victories there.

Miss Earth 2012 is on

Athena Imperial during Miss Earth 2011 as Miss Earth-Water. Olga Alava of Ecuador to relinquish crown to the next Queen of the Earth on November 24.

 

After Miss International 2012, Miss Earth 2012 is on! 96 entrants would vie to succeed Olga Alava to be the next Miss Earth. The coronation night would happen on November 24 at the Versailles in Alabang.

Kat is the 2nd BPCI sent representative after Isabella Manjon last year who won the Miss Charity Award. She hopes to be the 2nd Filipina to win MTQI after Justine Gabionza last 2006.

The Muses of PBA Teams for Opening Day

As much as everyone is excited about the opening of 2012-2013 All Filipino Cup and the 38th Season of the longest running basketball league, it has always been a lovely sight to see the teams parade with their different muses during the opening ceremonies.

This year's PBA opening ceremonies is on Sunday, September 30 at 4 pm with Global Port Batang Pier (formerly Powerade) and the crowd-favorite Barangay Ginebra San Miguel as the first game by 6 pm.
