PBA Governors Cup Finals: San Mig Coffee Mixers vs. Petron Blaze Boosters

The onslaught of Marcio Lassiter and Alex Cabagnot were proven to be enough for the Petron Blaze Boosters to book a return trip to the PBA Governors Cup Finals as they beat the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters 3-1 with the score of 110-89.

Lassiter who chipped in 27 points in 7-10 3 pt FG shooting showed his deadly form he was highly sought-after off while Cabagnot, being his usual crunchman self helped their import Elijah Millsap in the scoring load by making shots off open passing lanes. Millsap proved his scoring prowess with 34 points.

Reid was unstoppable with 41 but was not enough for them to extend the series.

Petron Blaze will battle San Mig Coffee Mixers for the first time since the 2000 Governors Cup where the San Miguel Beermen franchise lead by Lamont Strothers and coached by Jong Uichico edged out Purefoods lead by Derrick Brown and coached by Derrick Pumaren.

Only Danny Ildefonso, then the 3rd year player was on the active roster of the 2000 Governors Cup Finals.
