Former Supreme Court spokesman Jose Midas Marquez said he will not resign as Court Administrator following the ouster of Chief Justice Renato Corona.
Since Chief Justice Reynato Puno's term, Marquez served as SC's spokesman. When Corona was convicted via 20-3 votes from the impeachment trial senator-judges, he ended his stint as the High Court's spokesman. However, he still served as the Court Administrator.
Marquez stood by his position amidst calls for resignations from different sectors and anti-Coronas. He noted that his position as Court Administrator is not co-terminus with that of the chief justice, as he was appointed by the SC en banc even before Corona was appointed chief magistrate.
Although disheartened by the verdict of his former boss, Marquez said he is ready to work with the acting CJ Antionio Carpio.
"I have always been very professional with my work. Kung halimbawang hindi magiging maganda yung siguro yung relationship at maaapektuhan yung serbisyo, then that may be a time to think things over," he said.
