Sarah Geronimo now an SMDC ambassador, replaces Anne Curtis?

SMDC marketing head Nita Claravall reveals in SMDC's annual stockholders meeting that Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo will soon be launched as SMDC's new brand ambassador.

"For this year, we will have new brand ambassadors, the most popular women in the country today... By end of May, we will be launching Sarah Geronimo," Claravall said.

By having Geronimo as a brand endorser, you would expect to see her more on billboards, commercial of the brand and radio ads. But does Sarah replace Anne Curtis who has long been the face of SMDC?

Claravall clarifies that Geronimo will be an addition to SMDC's lineup of brand ambassadors and would not replace Curtis.

"She’s very popular (referring to Sarah). It makes sense for us because Sarah and Anne are at the top of their game right now. Sarah Geronimo will appeal to the mass market, while Anne Curtis will appeal to the A, B and C markets," Claravall said.

It Takes A Man and a Woman reaches P 200M mark

The romantic-comedy film starring John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo, "It Takes A Man and A Woman," has already breached the P200-million on its first eight days of showing.

As of Saturday, the film has already earned P201 million according to Star Cinema's PR executive Roxy Liquigan.

John Lloyd took the opportunity during "ASAP's" episode on April 7 to thank fans and moviegoers.

"Thank you very much. Maraming, maraming salamat po talaga. Thank you 'ASAP' for giving me the chance na makapagpasalamat sa lahat ng mga nakapanood na. Sa lahat ng mga hindi pa nakakapanood, please po huwag niyo palampasin," he said.

Box Office Mojo earlier reported the movie grossed P60.98 million in its first two days in theaters. It outranked Hollywood film "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" which also started showing on Black Saturday.

"It Takes A Man and A Woman" prequels, "A Very Special Love," (2008) and "You Changed My Life," (2009), earned P179.3 million and P225.2 million, respectively, making the installments among the highest-grossing Filipino films of all time.

'Sarah G. Live' to end soon?

ABS-CBN's musical show "Sarah G. Live!" featuring Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo is going to end soon, reports say.

It is speculated the show is already on its final two episodes, which, if true, will air finale on February 17, a few days before its anniversary ("Sarah G. Live" started February 26 last year).

This will give way to the upcoming fourth season of "Pilipinas Got Talent."

The singer-actress however will make an official announcement on Sunday, February 10 to clear things up.

But if it's true the show will be axed, Sarah's fans however should not worry because replacing "Sarah G. Live" is a new show, which will either be a drama series or a sitcom.

Just recently, Sarah signed a one-year exclusive contract with ABS-CBN and said she's "very blessed and grateful" for remaining a Kapamilya.

Aside from a new show, Sarah is also coming back to the big screen this year with "It Takes A Man And A Woman" opposite John Lloyd Cruz.

Sarah Geronimo performing at the Grammys?

A should-have-been national pride eventually turned out into a fallacy as the rumored news stating Sarah Geronimo has been shortlisted to perform at the 55th Grammy Awards was squelched by Viva Entertainment boss himself, Vic del Rosario.

The PopStar Princess was initially reported, through a blog post in her website sarahgeronimo.ph, as among the foreign artists invited by the Grammy Awards organizers to perform at the awarding ceremony next month.

Del Rosario, popularly known as "Boss Vic," falsified the rumors and said it is baseless because the Grammys is already set on February 10.

"Hindi ko alam kung saan galing yan. Kausap ko nga si Sarah (Geronimo) at wala kaming information tungkol diyan. Malamang kuryente yan," Boss Vic said, as posted in an article in Yahoo! Philippines.

The executive said his office should have received official communication from the said award-giving body about Sarah's participation by this time.

The blog post said Grammy organizer National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences "recognized the brilliance of Sarah Geronimo when it comes to performances."

"According to the report, in every continental region, there must be one performer, and based on the leaked information, the 'Concert Queen' Sarah Geronimo is included on the short list," it also said.
