This blog's intention is for the entire basketball - PBA, however, the author is indeed a fan of Petron Blaze Boosters.
With the Quarterfinals seat happening and Petron dropping its last 2 games to be relegated on either the 3rd and 4th spot, I went back to FTW: For the win at GMANEWS.TV where Mico Halili, Magoo Marjon, Richard Del Rosario talks about the championship of Petron Blaze Boosters on the 2011 Governors Cup.
Relieve it here:

========================================================================
In the SMC Kampihan Na Group, you see the Petron Blaze Boosters less favored to enter the 2011 PBA Semifinals. I actually beg to disagree, they have the tools to enter the finals. Despite an absence of players such as Jay Washington, Rabeh Al Hussaini, Dondon Hontiveros and players who are not 100% like Lordy Tugade, they had managed to log a final Philippine Cup eliminations of 9-5 (though I was disappointed with what happened to their last two games)
With the Quarterfinals coming on Wednesday and with Meralco or Rain or Shine waiting as their opponents depending on what would happen tomorrow, I've decided to write an analysis on both teams.
PETRON vs. MERALCO
*Splitting Elimination Series with Meralco winning their 1st game 80-70 and PBB winning the 2nd game by a hairline, 75-76.
What PBB should expect from Meralco:
Meralco's offense relies on Sol Mercado, Mark Cardona and Gabby Espinas. Stop one of the three and the rest is history. Sol and Mark most often do not play together, they play alternately so the wing defenders of PBB should match up well with the two. Gabby Espinas, though listed as 6 ft. 4 inches has improved his presence inside and can load it up because Coach Ryan Gregorio has given him a go signal to shoot.
Of course, you cannot forget the age-less Asi Taulava who would work his way scoring under the basket.
Should also look at: Mark Borboran, Mark Isip, Mark Yee
What PBB should expect from Rain or Shine
*Both PBB and ROS are part of Group A, they faced each other once and won 90-80
ROS has an unpredictable starting lineup so I won't dwell to much on that. ROS' key players are Ryan Arana, Gabe Norwood, Ronjay Buenafe, Jeff Chan, Beau Belga, JR Quinahan and their prized rookie, Paul Lee. Under the guidance of Coach Yeng Guiao, the team has blossomed to be one of the title contenders this conference until their string of losses came about. Jeff Chan's shooting, especially from the 3-pt. country has surely improved with his pro career and PBB should not leave him wide open. Paul Lee, despite being a rookie should be given proper defense because he has the opportunity to create shots for himself and his team mates. Gabe Norwood is still reliable for ROS the same goes with the extra rice tandem of Belga and Quinahan.
Should look at: ROS three point shooting, when it clicks, It clicks like there's no tomorrow
What PBB gives both these two teams?
- A walking mismatch by the name of ARWIND SANTOS - the league's rebounding king can light it up on both ends of the court.
- A clutch shooter in ALEX CABAGNOT - he has been playing big for PBB even though he's often playing 40 minutes a game.
- A defensive gem in DENNIS MIRANDA - Due to injuries, Denok has been showing a lot because he was given a lot of playing time.
- An energy guy and Mr. DO-IT-ALL, Chris Lutz - I hope he is ready. He is PBB's missing link on their last 2 losses.
Should look at: Joseph Yeo, Danny Ildefonso, Rob Reyes, Lordy Tugade
With eliminations ending tomorrow, 75% (3 out of 4 scenarios), PBB would face the 6th placed Meralco. An Alaska and Ginebra Win tomorrow would make the Boosters 4th and would play ROS (PBB holds superior quotient over ROS).
