Viral Photo: Will you eat at this restaurant if you are a Filipino?

A Chinese cook works in a restaurant behind a sign reading: "This shop does not receive the Japanese, The Philippines, The Vietnamese and Dog" in the historic tourist district of Houhai in Beijing on February 26, 2013. Photographs of the controversial sign have gone viral in Vietnamese-language forums and featured heavily in Philippine newspapers and websites

Beijing Restaurant in the Forbidden City is now the center of online fury with the sign "This shop does not receive the Japanese, the Philippines, the Vietnamese and the dog" which is considered to be China's way against Vietnamese and Philippines who both have a stand against island disputes.

Will you still eat at this restaurant if you are a Filipino in China?

Anne Curtis explains side on controversial outfit

Anne Curtis has explained through her Instagram account the sexy outfit she wore during last Sunday's performance on ABS-CBN's Sunday noontime show "ASAP."

Anne became a subject of controversy after wearing a revealing dress for her birthday production number in the said show. She sang Rihanna's "Diamonds" and got soaked up under the artificial rain.

The video of Anne's performance, uploaded by ABS-CBN News' YouTube account, was made private after a few hours of being public.

While the number was dubbed "unique" and "artistic," Anne's sky-high slit on her left leg caught the attention of netizens much more.

Here's what Anne said on Instagram:

"TAAAADAAA! I present to you the controversial @boomita outfit I wore for my birthday number on ASAP. As you can see we have a bodysuit with a hidden tangga to make way for the sky high slit skirt. It is made out of 2 pieces. In fact the "tangga" is made out of swimsuit material which Boom Sason is also known for making. I was completely protected. It may have seemed like a wardrobe malfunction to many but I can assure you, after making the mistake of not securing myself once I wouldn't let that happen to me again. :) So to settle all your minds I just had to post this. Thank you everyone that was concerned! To everyone that's trying to make an issue out of it! Thank you! ABSCBN news just told me its their most clicked video on their site ever! Just relax everyone! Wearing a tangga is not newbie in the industry! It's been around since the 80's :)"

Reader's Digest files bankruptcy

Iconic magazine Reader's Digest publisher RDA Holding Co. filed for bankruptcy to cut its US$465 million debt and focus on electronic media, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The 91-year-old magazine was founded by DeWitt and Lila Wallace and went public in 1990. An investor group, led by private-equity firm Ripplewood Holdings LLC bought it in 2007 for US$1.6 billion and the assumption of about US$800 million in debt.

This is the second time the company filed for bankruptcy. In August 2009, it cited a drop in advertising spending and the debt load incurred in its acquisition.

RDA said more than 70% of its secured note-holders have agreed to convert the debt to equity in a "prearranged" bankruptcy restructuring plan that it hopes to complete within six months. It also secured a US$105 million bankruptcy loan from a group of senior creditors.

Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno arrested for illegal gambling

Manila Vice Mayor Francisco Domagoso, popularly known as former actor Isko Moreno, along with five councilors, were arrested on Saturday for allegedly involving in illegal gambling.

The politicians are said to have engaged in gambling by sponsoring a bingo game which attracted some 500 people in Manila's Blumentritt area, a report from the Inquirer said.

The re-electionist Moreno was picked up by members of the Manila Police District (MPD) together with other allies: Councilors Jong Isip, Joel Chua, Benny Ang, Yul Servo and Maria Asuncion Fuguso.

Moreno is the running mate of former President Joseph Estrada, who will run as Mayor in the country's capital city.

Moreno and the councilors were detained at the Quiapo station and were to undergo routine medical checkups before the inquest proceedings at press time, the report said.

Moreno said they were manhandled by the policemen and claimed they were just talking to their supporters since Commission on Elections (Comelec) chair Sixto Brillantes said such meetings were not prohibited at the time.

Estrada arrived at the station and spoke with the detained politicians for about 30 minutes. He denounced the arrest as "pure political harassment."

Moreno and the councilors were discharged past midnight for lack of evidence, but Supt. Ricardo Layug, commander of the MPD's Quiapo station, said the case against the detained politicians are still up for further investigation.
