Best Import Award to be named after the late Bobby Parks

The PBA will name the Best Import Award in honor of the late Bobby Parks.

Announced on Sunday by PBA Commissioner Chito Salud, the league will commit the Best Import trophy as the "Bobby Parks" trophy in honor of his great contributions to the PBA, especially his 7-time Best Import award status in his flourishing PBA career which began in 1987 and lasted for 12 years.

A statement from PBA Commissioner Chito Salud read as follows:
“Bobby Parks, a seven-time PBA best import awardee, epitomized everything we could hope for an import: highly skilled, hardworking, respectful of host country rules and sensibilities and a perfect gentleman on and off the court,  I therefore cannot think of a better import and human being after which to name the best import award (Bobby Parks Best Import Award), both to honor Bobby's immense contribution to PBA as well as to serve as a shining example and inspiration to all imports who play in our shores."

Bobby Parks died yesterday due to the complications stemmed from his laryngeal cancer which was first diagnosed in 2008. He was inducted in the PBA Hall of Fame in 2009 where he was only one of the 3 imports inducted, the other two being Billy Ray Bates and Norman Black.
