A woman shot and killed her daughter after mistakenly identifying her as her boyfriend, police said Tuesday.
Investigators said the incident started with a domestic dispute that broke out between Adele Paula Bing, 52, of Winter Haven, Florida in the United States and her boyfriend, James Lane, 39 on Monday afternoon.
Police said Bing pistol-whipped her boyfriend in the head during their fight, sending him to a hospital. Before he left the house, he allegedly warned his girlfriend that he will come back and kill her.
Later at night, when someone started knocking, "banging and kicking on her front door," Bing, who was "still upset" about a "heated argument" with Lane, had "a baseball bat in her left hand and a .22-caliber pistol in her right hand" when she opened the door.
As she was opening the door, she accidentally discharged her pistol and found out it was her 25-year-old daughter Ruby Bing on the other side. She was with her 4-month-old baby.
Ruby Bing died on the scene while the baby was not injured.
Witnesses said Mrs. Bing cradled her bleeding daughter and cried "Baby girl, don't die."
She was charged of second degree murder and child abuse and is being jailed in the Polk County in the said state.
