Caguioa can still be BPC

Barangay Ginebra’s Mark Caguioa is still in contention for Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Best Player of the Conference Award.

Before he was sidelined by injury, “The Spark” was in second place behind Powerade’s Gary David in the statistical race in the quarterfinals stage of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

According to PBA.ph, David was leading the race with 34.5 statistical points per game, followed by Caguioa (31.5), Powerade’s Marcio Lassiter (30.3), Alaska’s Cyrus Baguio (29.1) and LA Tenorio (29.0), and Petron’s Arwind Santos (28.9).

Among the top six players, only Caguioa managed to lead his team to the semis and this could boost his chances in the balloting among the players, the media and PBA officials.

Barako Bull’s Willie Miller, Talk N’ Text’s Jimmy Alapag, Ranidel de Ocampo, Jarred Dillinger and Jason Castro are the other players with strong chances of breaking into the Top 5 after the semifinals.
Meralco’s Macmac Cardona fell from 2nd to 9th place after he was ejected in Game 2 of their quarterfinal duel with B-Meg.
