For basketball fans, today is a day filled with excitement as NBA opened another season. There were 3 games in the opening day:
Dirk-Less Mavs shock Lakers, 99 - 91.
Without a Dirk Nowitzki in tow, it was up to Dallas new acquisitions to carry the team to victory. Darren Collison chipped in 17 points, Brandan Wright added 14 and OJ Mayo added 12 lead their team to victory 99 - 91, shocking Lakers and Mavs fans alike for opening day.
Kobe Bryant scored 22 points while playing on an injured right foot while Pau Gasol had 23. The first game of Dwight Howard in a Laker uniform had a miserable night from the freethrow line hitting 3/14.
Heat get their rings and start the job by beating Celtics, 120 - 107
Despite the cramps and missing the second half, Lebron James finished with 26 points on the day he received his championship ring. Dwayne Wade lead the Heat with 29 points for their team to find a way to beat their arch-rival, Boston Celtics on their season opener, 120-107.
Former Boston Celtic star turned Miami Heat player Ray Allen had 19 points for the Heat, who didn't seem flustered in an encounter with Boston's Kevin Garnett (check out the video here:)
Paul Pierce led the Celtics with 23, Rondo added 20 while newest Celtic Leandro Barbosa had 16.
Irving helps Cavaliers win first game of the season.
The 3rd game of the opener may have been overshadowed by the big games in LA vs. Dallas and Celtics vs. Heat but it is something to talk about also. Kylie Irving had 29 points, Anderson Varejao had a career high of 23 rebounds as the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Washington Wizards on their opener at 94-84.
Jordan Crawford had 11 points for the Wizards who played without star point guard John Wall, center Nene and forward Kevin Seraphin. John Wall is expected to return late November because of injury.
