San Beda nips Letran Knights to complete another 3-peat

It took them 3 games to get the championship but they got the job done as San Beda Red Lions manhandled the Letran Knights 67-39 to take their third straight NCAA championship at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

It was San Beda's 17th NCAA title and the first for rookie coach Ronnie Magsanoc, who took over the coaching duties from Frankie Lim, who was meted a two-year ban by the league last year.

“It’s all about the players making things happen,” said Magsanoc, who also named the league’s Coach of the Year. “Everybody had a hand in this difficult run.”

BASER AMER: THE LION KING
Shortly after, 2nd year player Baser Amer was named as the NCAA Finals MVP. He chipped in 14 points in a starting role to help the Red Lions clinch the title.
