Wanted: Coach for the Youth Team replacing Olsen Racela

With the departure of Youth Team Coach Olsen Racela to coach Petron Blaze Boosters in the PBA, SBP is still looking for the void that would fill in for the coaching position as the squad that participates in the Southeast Asian Basketball Association and FIBA Asia age-group tournaments for Under-16 and Under-18 players.

However, SBP Executive Director Sonny Barrios assured that they would be participating in the age tilts, despite the void in the coaching position.

“Next year meron na naman tayong Under-16 national team na i-fo-form. Sasali na naman tayo sa SEABA. ‘Pag nag-qualify, FIBA Asia,”  said Barrios in the previous press conference in Seaoil's Metro Manila Basketball League (MMBL) which hosts the top high school teams over the country including those in UAAP and in NCAA.

Before the recent turn of events, there were talks of the installation of Energen Pilpinas assistant coach Nash Racela to the coaching position, but with him coaching FEU Tamaraws, it remains to be seen if he could pull through with the job.
