Tagle is Manila's 32nd archbishop

Imus Bishop Luis Antonio Tagle is now Manila's 32nd Archbishop.

He succeeds Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales who already submitted his resignation in 2007 as he reached the mandatory retirement age of 75 but the Pope extended his term indefinitely until a successor was appointed, and it was Bishop Tagle.

He was formally appointed as Archbishop Monday, December 12 in a Rite of Liturgical Reception and Canonical Installation where cardinals, bishops and priests all over the country were present as well as the 5 mayors of the cities under the Archdiocese of Manila.

According to the blog of CNN Senior Vatican Analyst John Allen, Archbishop Tagle  is a strong contender to become the next pope of the Catholic Church.
