PBA Triple-Header Recap: November 4, 2012

The never ending battle of who is the face of PBA continues, with James Yap with a slight edge
Basketball fans are treated to a triple header by the PBA Today at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Here is the recap:

1st Game: Barako Bull Energy Cola defeated Global Port Batang Pier (95-94)

Ronald Tubid led the Energy Colas as he became hero to propel them to victory that would bring them higher to the standings after the error he committed which brought almost Global Port to steal the game.

The Energy Colas spoiled the 20 pt. output of Mark Yee for the Batang Pier, just one shy of his career high 2 years ago.

BARAKO 95 – Tubid 19, Villanueva 18, Pennisi 13, Najorda 11, Anthony 9, Urbiztondo 9, Yap 9, Kramer 4, Alvarez 3, Ballesteros 0.
GLOBALPORT 94 – Yee 20, Miller 17, Manuel 12, Deutchman 11, Lingganay 10, Vanlandingham 7, Vergara 7, Al-Hussaini 5, Antonio 3, Adducul 2, Mandani 0, Guevarra 0.
Quarters: 22-18, 49-48, 77-74, 95-94.

2nd Game: Rain or Shine Elasto Painters defeated Meralco Bolts (106-81)

Jeff Chan did not need to have 30 points for Rain or Shine to win their game Sunday. In fact, Coach Yeng Guiao's defensive specialist, Jireh Ibanes did the job for them with 23 points, including stopping Meralco's gunners Solomon Mercado and Mark Cardona.

Supporting Ibanes was Belga with 16, Arana with 15 and Quinahan with 10.

Meralco was lead by Mark Cardona with 10. Ronjay Buenafe had a quiet 11 points while Cliff Hodge, Meralco's top rookie scored 9 points, most of them during crunch time.

Rain or Shine ties Alaska in the second spot with 5-2.

RAIN OR SHINE 106 – Ibanes 23, Belga 16, Arana 15, Quinahan 10, Tang 9, Cruz 8, Chan 7, Rodriguez 7, Norwood 6, Matias 5, Uyloan 0, Jaime 0.
MERALCO 81 – Cardona 20, Salvacion 14, Buenafe 11, Hodge 9, Mercado 9, Hugnatan 6, Bulawan 5, Borboran 4, Reyes 3, Belencion 0, Ross 0, Sharma 0, Artadi 0.
Quarters: 25-19, 41-28, 80-53, 106-81.

3rd Game: (Manila Clasico) San Mig Coffee Mixers defeated Barangay Ginebra San Miguel (78-68)

Big men of San Mig Coffee was just too much and the man of the million moves, James Yap, proves that he is indeed one of the best as he leads San Mig Coffee Mixers to beat crowd-favorite Barangay Ginebra 78-68.

Ginebra have missed the services of Kerby Raymundo (flu), Allein Maliksi and Jayjay Helterbrand (injury), they may also miss Dylan Ababou on a possible ACL injury.

The scores:
SAN MIG COFFEE 78 – Devance 18, Yap 14, Simon 13, Pingris 11, De Ocampo 7, Barroca 6, Reavis 4, Villanueva 3, Intal 2, Gonzales 0.
GINEBRA 68 – Caguioa 16, Tenorio 12, Ellis 11, Jensen 8, Mamaril 7, Maierhofer 6, Cortez 6, Ababou 2, Espiritu 0, Wilson 0, Hatfield 0.

The third game on that day was one of the best game this season. I thought Ginebra will win against San Mig, but it's not. Looking forward for their next match up!
