Background
Cynthia Villar was a former three-term congresswoman from 2001-2010. She is the sister of Las Piñas Mayor Vergel Aguilar and the wife of incumbent Senator Manny Villar. She won via landslide in the Congressional elections in 2001 and was elected for three terms in office. She was the president of Lady Legislators in the 12th to 14th Congress. From 2004 to 2010 Cynthia Villar has been Chairwoman of Committee on Higher & Technical Education of the House of Representatives.

She also served as the President of the Congressional Spouses Foundation from 1998 to 2000 and the Senate Spouses Foundation from 2006 - 2008.
